College-by-College Pitch Off

7 Great Colleges | 28 Cash Prizes | $22,500

The College-by-College Pitch Off is back!  The event takes place in all seven colleges at Iowa State University.  Students will have the chance to deliver a 90-second pitch about an idea or business they are working on to a panel of judges for cash prizes.  In addition to a cash prize, the top two in each category (a new idea or existing business) in each college pitch-off will advance to the Innovation Pitch Competition.

Registration is now open and each college event is open to the first 25 students to apply.  If your college pitch competition is full, you will be added to a waitlist.

All of the College Pitch Offs will take place at the Student Innovation Center, Room 3231. Special requests for virtual will be allowed. Based on ISU COVID-19 guidelines, only one presenter will enter the room at a time, and judges will be masked and distanced. For those interested in watching the events, there will be a live stream for each competition on the Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship’s Facebook Page.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

You are allowed 90 seconds to pitch your concept.  Someone will stand in the back of the room and flashcards telling you how many seconds are left:  60, 30, 15, and 5.  A bell will ring at 90 seconds, and you will be asked to stop presenting – even if you have not finished your pitch.  PowerPoints are NOT allowed.  However, if you have a prototype or drawing you wish to share, those items will be allowed.
